2nd Annual Soar Above Gala
Amelia Earhart was a pioneer for women’s rights and empowerment, and she soared above limitations. We embrace all Amelia represented as we work to help victims of domestic violence soar above their circumstances to a life of safety and freedom.
Soar Above is an annual fundraising gala benefiting End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin, the statewide coalition that serves the 73 domestic violence programs throughout Wisconsin and also offers direct legal services to immigrants, refugees and other marginalized populations.
The event will be held Friday September 22, 2017 at Monona Terrace. Join us for an evening of food, fun and flight! You’ll enjoy cocktails, dinner, dancing, a wine pull and silent auction and an awards presentation, honoring heroes in the fight against domestic violence.
With a nod to Amelia Earhart, a pioneer in aviation and women’s empowerment, the entire evening will embrace a 1920s theme. You are encouraged to wear 1920s attire!
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Wisconsin
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) is the world’s largest celebration of women innovators and job creators. It is described by Fortune Magazine as “a global movement to celebrate and support female founders and shed light on some of their challenges.” Forbes Magazine wrote that the intention was also “to mobilize a global network of female business owners, entrepreneurs and change makers who support and empower this community of women entrepreneurs and their businesses.” New York State’s Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City’s Mayor Bill De Blasio proclaimed Women’s Entrepreneurship Day an official day on November 19. 2014.
Now as the WED Ambassador for Wisconsin, I invite you to celebrate the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2017 in Madison, Wisconsin on November 14, 2017 and be part of the movement. We will be holding our Wisconsin event with our WED HQ at the United Nations and gatherings around the globe organized by my fellow 150 ambassadors representing 144 countries.
You can be a delegate representing your area, be part of the advisory aboard, sponsor and attend. As this is the first annual entrepreneurship day, we need your ideas, inputs and connections to make it great!
We encourage women and men to join us and be inspired by stories of high-profile women in business and technology, and meet women-entrepreneurs who have thrived.
Please sign up for our email list to stay up to date on everything that’s happening and join the movement! You can also find the event page on Facebook!
