Thank you for being part of Leader to Leader yesterday. Your role as a community, business or ministry leader is so essential and as we discussed, everyone wins when a leader gets better.
Thank you also for your feedback and we welcome more. We are considering the idea of doing “Lunch and Learns” where we cover just one talk on a quarterly basis. I’d love to hear if you would be interested in attending that forum.
The clear winner in terms of content was the discussion about Multipliers vs. Diminishers, based on the book Multipliers by Liz Wiseman. The “E” exercise was a big hit, too. I encourage everyone to pick up the book. She dives in deeper and discusses the things that can hold us all back. It’s worth the effort.
I felt like the talk about Brené Brown’s book Daring Greatly wasn’t quite finished when we turned it over to the tables. It’s just such a big subject. Please take time over the next few days to watch her TED talks on the subject and be uniquely you – show up – be the man or woman in the arena – bring your best most authentic self to everything you do.

My talk on Colin Powell and his most recent book It Worked for Me fell flat, mostly because I wasn’t greatly inspired by him. It was good basic leadership information, though, and his book is worth reading.
Although we didn’t have time to dive into it more, Bob Goff’s book Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World is absolutely worth checking out the next time you’ve got a few minutes and want to be inspired.

What I hoped you walked away from in this session is the idea that you can and should embrace life. We have a whole culture of people who are watching other people do interesting things on TV but what the world needs are people who are fully alive and doing things that matter.

Last but not least, we want to thank our gracious hosts at the Mantova Room. Ed Schinnick, owner of Porta Bella and the Mantova Room, just opened the room earlier this year. We were his trial group of business people and much was learned. Thank you for being patient with the audio challenges and know that they would welcome the opportunity to host your next gathering. One of my favorite moments from the event was when Ed said he called his business partner and said, “You should get down here. This is really good!” We felt the same about the service and food!
