Earlier this year, the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County asked us to help them with their inaugural Hope for Kids Celebration.
They wanted to recognize the efforts of sponsors, donors and volunteers for their contributions and shine a light on what a difference the club is making in Madison.
Nearly 700 people packed the ballroom at the Concourse Hotel as several children told stories about how the club had impacted their lives in profound ways. Two Madisonians were also recognized for going above and beyond for the club. Tim Metcalfe, the Owner of Metcalfe’s Markets was recognized with a Hero Award. Mary Burke received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Right now, there are thousands of kids who still need our help. Mary Burke said it best when she said, “They are not getting the education, the compassion, the belief in themselves, the generosity or the inspiration they need. They are the future of our community.”
We can and must do better.
A generous donor has issued a challenge to all friends and supporters; if the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County can raise $25,000, they will match it bringing the total up to $50,000!
Please consider volunteering or giving a year-end tax-deductible gift to the organization. Contact Kristin Schill at 608-257-2606 or email her at kschill@bgcdc.org for more information.
It all begins with a little HOPE.
